External CAS in KMB is handled by Mr. Abdul Latif . It’s one of the most important requirements which are needed to be fulfilled by all students of International Baccalaureate. External CAS requires students to carry out the activities of CAS outside of MARA College Banting. The students must attend to some selected schools to volunteer in those schools in order to do works which is ordered by the schools. That’s one of the examples of External CAS. Instead going to the schools, students also can do some charity work and volunteering in any activity under specific organizations or those handled by the students themselves.
The aims of External CAS are to enable the students to develop :
1. An appreciation of the potential of the human mind and spirit.
2. An awareness of humanitarian issues across the world
3. A willingness to inquire and an enjoyment of discovery.
4. Knowledge, skills and understanding
5. A recognition that education impose lifelong ethical responsibilities
6. Confidence in their ability to initiate change, both individually and collaboratively.
7. Autonomy and self-reliance
8. An appreciation of their own and others’ talents
All of these aims should exist in IB students as those are reasons why they are doing IB. IB is not just about study, also about embedding the 9 IB learner profile among the students.
The schools selected for the Mara College Banting students to do their External CAS are :
- SK Bukit Tadom
- SK Dengkil
- SK Kanchong Tengah
- SK Bukit Changgang
- Sek. Khas Klang
- PDK Semenyih
- PDK Kajang
- PDK Teluk Panglima Garang
- PDK Bukit Changgang
All of these aims should exist in IB students as those are reasons why they are doing IB. IB is not just about study, also about embedding the 9 IB learner profile among the students.
